Understand the condition

Start with
the right questions.

Back pain can affect how you sit, move, train, and sleep. An assessment helps explore possible contributors and choose appropriate next steps.

At Foundations, your history, examination, and goals guide whether chiropractic care, soft tissue work, exercise, or referral is appropriate.

Does back pain always mean damage?

Symptoms alone do not tell the whole story. Your history and examination help put pain into context and identify whether further evaluation is needed.

Should I stop all activity?

For many common back-pain episodes, staying active within tolerance is encouraged. The right activity and exercise depend on your situation.

When is urgent help needed?

New bladder or bowel problems, numbness around the groin, or rapidly worsening leg weakness require urgent medical evaluation.

Make the program fit you.

The eight Foundations patterns organize movement choices. Accessory work and variations can be added around your condition, goals, equipment, and clinical findings. A condition name alone does not determine a safe program.

Background reading: AAOS: Low back pain. Exercise candidates also draw on the supplied Foundations working materials and require review.
